Yes: It's a bummer, but yes, this can definitely be normal. The brownish component is just old blood from the uterus. For whatever reason the uterus didn't evacuate all the blood at the end of the cycle. Or there was some old blood remaining in the vagina. Not to worry, no sign of anything ominous
