A member asked:

What is the normal range for a direct biliruben lab reading?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Dan Fisher answered

Depends upon lab.: Lab will usually print normals on the results sheet. Generally in adults a direct bili is 0-0.3 mg/dl with total bili less than 2 mg/dl.

What are normal total and direct bilirubin levels? Some say for total <1.0, <1.5, or <1.9. My lab used <1.0 and my total was 1.5. Direct was 0.2.

Bilirubin normal at 19 umol/l in one city but I moved & new lab has lower reference where 17 umol/l is normal limit vs 20. If Im still 19 is this a problem or do calibrate machines differently from lab to lab so different results for same sample? Tx?

A 15 year old boy's total bilirubin is 0.8 and direct bilirubin 0.4. The total bilirubin is in range but direct bilirubin is slightly out of our lab range [0-0.3]. What might be the possible causes?

Why would Bilirubin lab normal range vary between labs or cities?
Is 0.2 a normal direct bilirubin? My lab used to use 0-0.4, now it's 0-0.2. Mine has been 0.2 for years, but total bill is 1.5. All else in range.
Dr called said blood tests were normal Rcvd lab results MCH is low & total Bilirubin @1.9. All other results are in normal range. What does this mean?
Total Bilirubin elevated 19 umol/l but conjugated within normal. Previous total a mth earlier was 25 umol/l so dropped closer to lab normal range of 17 or less but still above. U/S normal but pancreas not well seen, ducts normal. Is this serious?
Total bilirubin was elevated at 1.2. All other labs normal. Should I be concerned?!
