Postinjury neuralgia: When you injure your ankle, the most common way is to turn the foot in on the leg (as opposed to the foot going out in relation to the leg). That is why it is called an 'inversion sprain'. In order to have fractured the fibula (and, unfortunately, you give no indication of whether the fracture was below, at or above the ankle mortise), you have to turn, pull and stretch things--including nerves.
