Workup/Mgt: It is important to determine the underlying cause of the wet cough. If he is coughing and vomiting, has a high fever or difficulty breathing, he may need antibiotics. Most respiratory infections at this age are caused by viruses and can be treated with hydration, nasal saline drops with gentle suction to reduce cough caused by post nasal drip. Most colds with wet coughs clear up by day 8.
