How MUCH alcohol?: If you are taking mucinex, (guaifenesin) i assume you have bronchitis and are having difficulty bringing up your mucus. This means there is an infection, or inflammation secondary to smoking. Alcohol is not good for either problem - it impairs our immune response and makes infection harder to treat, and increases inflammation.
