Get evaluated: Although this is anew finding, it is usually not a significant problem. A basic evaluation should be performed inlcuding a urinalysis and testing to rule out anatomic obstruction. If the workup is normal, then observation or medical therapy are viable options.

Needs a urinalysis: Get a urinalysis. Sudden onset of frequent urination may be a sign of a bladder infection, bladder hyperactivity, or other disorder. If the frequent urination occurs only during the day and your child sleeps all night long without awakening to urinate and without wetting the bed, it is very likely an innocent condition that will resolve with time. If he/she has other symptoms, see your md.

Usually benign: Children quite commonly develop episodes of urinary frequency for no apparent reason. Certainly worth having a urinalysis which bwill rule out a possible uti, especially if child can sleep thru the night without wetting or needing the bathroom. An overactive bladder, or rare case of pediatric interstitial cystitis might be considered if symptom persits >2 months, or has significant nocturia..
