Focus on health: It only takes days for the body to "learn" to be dependent on tobacco. Focus on your health and how you control it. Are you hanging out with smokers? Make sure they know you don't want them to smoke near you. Make sure NO one smokes in a home or a car - even with the windows open, it can affect you. Are you healthy in other areas? Exercise? Diet? Sleep? If so, great! If not, work on those!

Don't understand ?: and what you mean by "preventing" smoking. You prevent smoking by NOT SMOKING. If you are a smoker and are talking about ways of quitting, they are numerous. A smoking cessation program is very helpful and they are widely available. Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, lozenges etc.) also help increase quit rates, as do bupropion (Zyban) and varenicline (Chantix). Hypnosis, acupuncture too.
