A member asked:

Can a woman give her baby hepatitis b through both regular and c-section birth?

Dr. Jay Park answered

Yes: Cesarian section does not prevent vertical transmission of hepatitis b. All the infants born to hepatitis b positive mothers receive Hepatitis B Immune Globulin in addition to Hepatitis B Vaccine within 12 hours from birth. Two subsequent doses of hep-b vaccine are given to them at 2 and 6 months of age just as to other infants.
