Had thymectomy. what are the chances that i could have a relapse of myasthenia gravis?

Rare: Occasionally some tiny remnants of the thymus gland remain after the surgical removal, and it is thought that these are responsible for continuing myesthenia gravis. But it is very rare.

Multifactoral: Thymectomy may be curative. Generally patients may demonstrate 1. Cure, 2. Asymptomatic on medications, 3. Stable symptoms on medications and/or decreased medications. Not too bad: The results of patients with myasthenia after thymectomy are variable. Most will have less symptoms, some will come off medication and some will have no benefit. Probably about 30% will have no benefit.
