Pain is not normal: Most likely is a phlebitis, also called an inflammation of the vein. The most common complication after IV therapy. Usually warm compresses and nsaids over the counter will eliminate the problem in 7 days. If problem is persist see your pcp for evaluation and assessment.

Phlebitis?: Not normal, but not awful. Start applying warm compresses to area several times a day, and the donation center RN or your primary Dr should have a look at it to be sure that is what it is and nothing else.
