Not normal: The recommended weight gain for the entire pregnancy is only 25 pounds. At 11 weeks, your baby and placenta weight less than a pound. At full term when your baby needs the most calories, it still only requires that you eat an extra 300 calories a day. Start logging what you eat each day so you can discuss it with your doctor.

Ask your OBGYN: I'm hoping that you've begun to work with an obgyn who will (hopefully) be able to follow you through delivery. If not, now is a good time to start such a relationship. It really helps you feel understood specifically as the time draws near. It may be a normal, if large, early weight gain - or not. Find out and get advise specifically for you and your baby(s?). Congratulations! good luck!
