missed dose of progesterone (pill) can i take my next dose this morning and again tonight?

Yes: It is critical that a Progesterone only pill be taken at the same time each day. A back-up form of contraception should be used or you should abstain from intercourse for at least 2 days if the pill is taken > 3 hours late or missed on any given day. You should resume taking your pill as soon as possible.

A 29-year-old female asked:
What is the normal range for the amount of time it takes to start a period after your last progesterone pill?

Dr. Miguel Cano answered

3-10 days: With adequate estrogen effect & at least 7 days of Progesterone use, you should see a withdrawal bleed within 3-10 days. If not, you need to discuss this with your doc. To prevent hyperplasia, you may need a longer course (10 days). For synchronizing your lining, you may need a higher dose and/or estrogen supplementation.
