Yes: A child with hydrocephalus can lead a very normal life. I presume you are asking whether or not the shunt will affect the ability to have a normal life. Patients with shunts can and do live very normal and full and productive lives. There certainly are some precautions they need to take such as being aware of the signs of shunt dysfunction. Also, there may be some limitations to avoid head injury.
