Can be.: Heartburn has been reported as a potential side effect of zocor (simvastatin). It is usually mild and responds to taking acid reducing medications. One other option would be to switch to a different medicine for your cholesterol. If you continue to have heartburn which does not respond to antacids easily, then i would speak with your physician about switching.
