A member asked:

With the exception of std's, is there any reason oral sex is "unsafe" in the eyes of medical professionals?

No: Other than stds, oral sex is not inherently dangerous. I've heard of blowing into the vagina, which makes absolutely no sense to me, and could be dangerous. And of course biting is problematic for sure. Transfer of infection is the main concern with oral sex, or any other sex. And, of course, pregnancy should be effectively avoided if the woman does not want to become pregnant.

Sex: No. Not in any way. But that is where a physician should stop. Medicine in general is to have no opinion on when, how , or with whom one is sexual. Oral sex is enjoyed by many billions of sexually active individuals in the world. There is no health concern, in general to this common sexual activity.
