Need diagnosis...: First, you need to have the etiology of the cough diagnosed. A cough present for more than 2 weeks is considered chronic and etiologies include bronchospasm from any cause, GERD, post-nasal drip or a combination of factors. An acute cough can be due to bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. each of these are treated differently so see your doctor for diagnosis/treatment.
