Bipolar disorder Tx: Meds fall into classes of mood stabilizers (Lithium​/ anticonvulsants like valproic acid, divalproex or lamotrigine) & atypical antipsychotics (Quetiapine, aripiprazole, olanzapine or risperidone). Other tx: psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy & family or group therapy. Refractory cases- Transcranial magnetic stimulation or electroconvulsive therapy. Meds and therapy: Mood stabilizers such as depakote or lithium to decrease the extreme intensity of mood swings, combined with therapy from a psychotherapist who specializes in bipolar disorder would be the most optimal approach. Don't medicate yourself. Ask for appropriate referrals for help that works for YOU.
