?virus: A viral intestinal infection may be present and usually clears in several days. However, if you have persistent or worsening abdominal pain , tenderness, vomiting, black or bloody stools a physician should examine you for other causes. In the meantime, follow a bland, low roughage diet and use kaopectate (kaolin and pectin) if diarrhea occurs.
