A member asked:

My lips get red and swollen after eating, especially foods hot in temperature. this happens whenever i eat. why does this happen..?

Dr. Joel Kahn answered

Increased blood flow: The stimulation of the hot food and moving the lips while eating causes increased blood flow and some dilation of the blood vessels in the lips, causing the increased redness and swelling. As long as the redness and swelling resolves soon afterward, this is not a serious situation.
