Whats a lumbar puncture likes?

Bee sting: The worst part of the lumbar puncture is the bee sting when you get local anesthesia injected. After that you should just feel some pressure in your back and not too much pain.

Scary, but not awful: You lie down on one side, curled into a tight ball. The doctor uses a small needle to numb an area in your lower back, then passes a spinal needle through this numb area and into the hollow in the back where the spinal cord is floating. Fluid from this area flows through the needle and sent to the lab. The hardest part is not being able to see what is going on behind you-most do fine!
