I had a copper iud for 6 months but had heavy and long periods is there a medication i could take to stop the heavy flow with the copper iud please?

Not really : The copper iud is known to increase bleeding and cramping. This effect is lessened after about 6 months. You could take a birth control pill in addition to your iud to decrease the bleeding, but that seems like a lot of extra medication to take. Consider switching to the Progesterone releasing iud (mirena). Talk to your doc.
