Doctor's advise : It depends so I am not going to give you a clear answer but a few IFs If the hole is in the lower chamber (VSD) the doctors may wait until it closes itself (a few months or years) If in the upper chamber (ASD) depends more on flow and pressures than size. If the baby is in heart failure, the bets are off. You should not do anything but be supportive of the baby's parents. Dont add to their worries
