You already know: Death from anemia still happens when people have heavy bleeding, massive hemolysis, or cannot make blood cells and for whatever reason cannot be transfused. It is accompanied by severe shortness of breath, swelling from high-output congestive heart failure, and is a miserable way to go. If you are sick and are considering noncompliance with treatment, please reconsider.
