Eyelid dermatitis: Eyelid swelling can be caused by allergy, infection, or normal skin changes. If you do have some inflammation of the lid, it will tend to be worse in the mornings because fluid in your body will pool in your eyelids when you sleep at night. This gets better after you are up and gravity pulls the fluid away from the lids.
