A member asked:

My 4 yr old daughter was fast asleep when i realised she had a temperature she was breathing a little heavily she said nothing is hurting her why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusing question: The normal patient will increase their respiratory rate by 5 breaths/minute for each f degree elevated. This is done to add oxygen to the blood to sustain the increase in metabolism. Early in an illness a kid may have no discomfort, and certainly would not if they were comfortable enough to be sleeping.
