Mainly rest: Ice to affected areas, advil or aleve, (naproxen) and initially rest. Typically gets better with regular activity though. Good luck.

Avoid the activity: When shin splints occur, it is important to avoid the activity to allow them to heal. Then warm up, stretch and start gradually with activity. I pain recurs, be checked out for stress fractures.
