Hard to get rid of: Google "acanthosis nigricans." controlling your weight and blood sugar can help stop the discoloration from spreading, but any attempts to eliminate the hyperpigmentation you already have will require a prescription or a procedure. Maybe a good dermatologist could help.

Acanthosis Nigricans: If you are also overweight, this could be a sign of elevated blood sugars. I would recommend getting tested for mthfr 677 ; 1298 (and treated for life-l-methylfolate, p5p, ; methylfolate) if positive to help use Insulin better.Avoid carbs and sugars. Consider getting an advanced cardiovascular risk profile done: advanced lipids, apo e, homocysteine, uric acid, b12, pth, vit d, ; hgba1c. Exercise!
