How is measles treated?

Symptom treatment: There is no treatment for measles. Only symptom care such as treating fever with Motrin or tylenol, (acetaminophen) or treating cough and congestion. Hydration is also important.

Best is prevention!: As with many of the vaccine-preventable diseases, treatment options are often limited to supportive care. Basically, you have to just suffer through and hope the body fights off the infection and that no complications arise. (complications of these illnesses are often the worst part.) vaccines stimulate your immune system to fight these germs off before any chance of problems can arise.

Ribavirin and interferon are emerging therapies which have not yet been proven effective.
