Adjustment Disorder: The dsm-5 (diagnostic manual), says that adjustment disorders occur within 3 months (not longer than 6 mons after the stressor ends) of the stressor; these symptoms (e.g., sadness, anxiety, behavior problems) must cause distress that is more intense than usual (not culturally or out of context); cause significant impairment in social/work/other functioning; ; basically is not due to normal grief.
