A member asked:

Do anti psychotics reduce life expectancy 10-20 years? i have used fluphenazine decanoate for 3 to 4 years ago i am 35 and need it for life.

No.: No. It is noted that schizophrenics and others who take antipsychotics have a decreased average life expectancy, but that is not due to the medications themselves. It is due to a mix of the increased smoking rate, suicide rate, and poorer health care that this population has (unfortunately). I am glad you have found meds that work for you and i encourage you to continue. Be well.
