If first trimester abdominal ultrasound was not accurate why would doctors do them? does it depend on your body type? just curious.

Ultrasound dating: First trimester ultrasound is accurate within 5-7 days. There is no test that can date conception more accurately than a 1 week window. While ultrasounds can be limited in obese people, as long as they can visualize fetus, measurements will be accurate. Transvaginal ultrasounds can be more accurate but more invasive. Getting a more accurate date is unnecessary; babies rarely respect due date!
