Genital Herpes: Herpes is getting more confusing the more we learn. There is still no test to predict when you are shedding virus and thus are contagious. If you have no sores you can't know where you are contagious. Suppressive therapy lowers risk to your partner by 50%.

No: With suppressive anti-viral medications and condom use it is not guaranteed to pass it on.

Condoms: Condom use is the best way to prevent transmission of genital herpes. Even without outbreaks, carriers can transmit the virus.
