I was wondering is bad eyesight genetic or caused by staring at something (like a computer) for too long?

Genetic vs straining: Bad eyesight can be due to diseases and/ or Need for glasses (one's refraction): which can be due to length of eye & corneal shape (astigmatism): these are mostly genetic causes but can be changed with extensive reading up-close (induced myopia) from computers, trauma.
