Can not tell by pic: I checked out the picture, but it was too grainy and the light shining off your hand made it difficult to tell. I can only assume, the dr, who was able to examine you and see the area in person, has the best idea of what it probably is. Try treating for the fungus, and if not better after treatment, then get it re-checked.

Maybe: Could also be a local reaction to a chemical (cleaner or otherwise), fungal or possibly an early whitlow. If antifungal does not make an improvement in a few days, would follow up with a dermatologist for recheck.
