Need exam: I don't know until i examine it. You should go to see your md to check it out. It could be just folliculitis/infection in the root of the hair, could be herpes, could be others. Need to be examined. By the way, there are 2 different types of herpes-hsv 1 and hsv2. You can have hsv-1 without being sexually active. Cold sore /herpes labilais is caused by hsv-1.

Inflamed cyst: Apply warm soap and see if lesion drains.If not see your dermatologist or another 1 if they gave you the diagnosis of herpes.
