After an asthma attack, i appear to have a severe headache that lasts a day. what should i do? also, have noticed an increase in heartburn occurrences as well. what should i do? are these normal?

Asthma: The answer to your last question "is it normal?" - no. It's not normal. It's somewhat unclear as to why you would have headache after an asthma attack. You may try simple over-the-counter analgesics such as tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen (unless you are allergic to it or your asthma is triggered by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications). Otherwise, talk to your doc and see if there is more 2 the story.

See your physician: Heartburn in asthma patients may be due to higher than normal acid reflux from the stomach and/or taking Prednisone for asthma attacks. Some people develop migraines along with allergy; if your asthma attacks are associated with exposure to allergens, that may explain it. Another explanation, that nasal allergy worsens along with your asthma and causes headache, see a board-certified allergist.
