Several ddx: Could be from several reasons, including gout (unlikely due to your gender), infection (unlikely unless open wound), ligament strain (possible, from overuse), blood clot (unlikely but you are at increased risk if you smoke and use bc), impingement (possible if you wear certain shoes), plantar fasciitis (heel pain can appear near ankle).
