Age dependent questi: If you are young, and have in many joints, you must r/o inflammation. Hypermobility of the joints can causes widespread pain: this is not inflammatory, although frequently hereditary. If one is older, or has had prior joints injuries, oseoarthitis is more common. Fibromyalgia is a "myalgia" and must have muscular trigger points, not specifically joint pain.

No easy answer: Many things can cause joint pain. A careful history by your physician is the best place to start. Some joint pains are age related. A myriad number of diseases can affect the joints. Xray evaluation and laboratory tests will help narrow down the cause for your joint pain. Inheitance patterns and injuries may also play a part.
