Tonsils: No that can be a normal variant especially in teenagers. As we get older the tonsils tend to involute and shrink down.

Yes: Im always concerned that when the tonsils become so large that they are touching, a patient is at risk for upper airway obstruction. Tonsils that large can cause difficulty swallowing and breathing. I'm willing to bet you snore. The real risk is if they get infected. If you tonsils become infected, they will swell and could interfere with your ability to breathe. Go see a doctor and get checked.
