Need evaluation: If you are on birth control, but continue to have abnormal breakthrough bleeding, you need an evaluation by an ob/gyn who should perform an exam and an ultrasound to evaluate for causes of breakthrough bleeding, such as polyps. If negative, then discuss other birth control pills / different doses.
