ETD: Unjani, what you are most likely experiencing is what is called eustachian tube dysfunction, (etd), when the eustachian tube fails to open to allow equalisation of pressure between the middle ear and the outside. Chewing gum, stretching your jaw and mouth and holding your nose while attempting to blow (as scuba divers do when descending to deeper levels) may help. Hamba gahle.
