Not severe.: Rotavirus infections (there are several strains) usually cause a self-limiting gastroenteritis. This is no fun and may cause dehydration, but is no usually serious in adults. There is no evidence that they lead to any fetal problems. Some people have a bout of lactose intolerance after a rotavirus infection, so avoid dairy during recovery.
