Elevate and ice: Keep the head elevated and apply light ice packs. Some people like to use frozen peas or corn in a zippered plastic bag.

Slow Process: Normally, time will take care of the swelling. In the meantime, over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen can help a bit. On the first day or two, ice/cold compresses can also help a bit. Obviously, you need to avoid additional trauma, like playing with your lip or very hard foods for a few days. Other than that, you'll just have to wait for your body to heal.
