A member asked:

Can you tell me if you have sex w/o protection with a male who is known for carrying hpv, is it a 100% chance i'll get it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: It is possible to have sexual intercourse with someone who has hpv without acquiring an infection; however, the risk of acquiring hpv is higher without condoms than with condoms. Always using the combination of condoms and a spermicidal lubricant will greatly decrease the risk of becoming infected with hpv and other sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms will also help prevent pregnancies.
