i love the water, but it scares me, should i be concerned?

Yes and no: I am an endurance swimmer and love the water as well. For this reason, i follow the rules and swim safely. To enjoy the sport, you must learn at once to put your irrational fear aside, and have your rational fear keep you always swimming, boating, water-skiing or whatever you do safely. Same for driving a car, flying a plane, or finding romantic love.
