See below: Congestive heart failure is a dysfunction of the heart muscle. Defibrillator is not a treatment for congestive heart failure. You need defibrillator in case if the heart goes out of rhytm. The device can help the heart at time by synchronizing heart function.

Defibrillator: Defibrillator does not prevent chf. It will protect you from lethal arrhythmia (when your heart beats fast and irregular, it will deliver a shock to reset your heart).
