Common fear: This is not too unusual. There are psychotherapists who specialize in various phobias and this is one they'll know about. Also, your physician may have dealt with it directly and might be able to help you through it in the situation. Bring it up to the dr. Ask for a referral or for help right there in the office. The therapist might help with other issues too, so it can be a good deal. Best!

CBT: Seek a cognitive-behavioral therapist who specializes in phobias. One method they use is systematic desensitization which slowly and incrementally brings the person closer and closer to the thing they are afraid of in slow, graduated steps that help make the anxiety more tolerable.
