Congratulations!: Congratulations on overcoming your fears for the betterment of your health. A GYN MD will do a thorough overall exam and then a pelvic exam. The pelvic exam will involve insertion of a speculum to obtain cervical cells for a pap smear. The digital pelvic exam will involve vaginal/abdominal palpation of the uterus, tubes and ovaries. None of this "hurts" to have done from a kind and considerate MD.
