There had been some: Research on lithium but last i checked, it had disappointing results. I am not aware of anything else in the works. I'd consider researching on the internet if there are any clinical trials pending and if she can enroll. My only disclaimer is that if she enrolls in a clinical trial, her treatment will be experiment or she may be in a placebo group.
