A member asked:

My mother suffering from asl the doctor prescribed her riluzole. is there's any medicine coming up for this disease if there's an please where?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Still research: The cure to ALS is still elusive, and other than riluzole, there is no marketed product. Some theoretical benefit to perhaps blocking glutamate, and some doctors add Gabapentin and memantine, but little proof of value. Could consider trying Alpha lipoid acid, phosphatidyl serine, or even n-acetyl cysteine. Would contact major medical school centers such as mayo, johns hopkins to join research.
